The Yorkminster Citadel Band (Bandmaster Greg Colley and Deputy Bandmaster Bill Way)

Our band and songsters (choir), as well as various vocal and instrumental soloists, provide music for worship each Sunday. They also participate in regular concerts.

Songsters (Songster Leader Cathie Koehnen)

In addition to their weekly contribution to worship services the Songsters are an integral part of the ministry of Yorkminster, particularly at Christmas when they bring joy to shoppers and employees on our Christmas kettles.

Worship Team (Coordinator Jonathan Kean)

On a couple of Sundays a month, the worship team creates an upbeat atmosphere through bringing newer arrangements and songs to the congregation as a part of our worship service. It is composed of vocalists, guitars, piano, drums and brass.

Online Bible Study via zoom

From the third week of September until June an adult online Bible study will be held via zoom. The study will be facilitated by one of our Yorkminster Officer/Pastors Steven Cameron and it will be held on Thursdays from 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm. For the zoom code, please email Steven at [email protected]

This will be a chance for an in-depth study of God’s word as it relates to our relationship with God, our families and the world around us.

Our 2024-2025 study will be centred around the biblical book of Romans. The two study aids that we will be using are: Max Lucado’s book, In the Grip of Grace and John Stott’s commentary on the book of Romans.

OPAL Luncheon Club

OPAL-1

Seniors are the jewel of our church and community. They have an exciting luncheon program once a month from September to June.

Food, Fellowship and Information
Third Wednesday of the Month
12:00 pm to 2:00 pm

Phone (416) 222-9110 ext. 1 to register

Of course this ministry may not be for you—you’re not a senior yet! But if you are looking for fellowship with people who share your life experience, we have a ministry for you. Our seniors are a highly valued part of our church family, and continue to be actively involved in church ministry in many ways. At the Luncheon Club, all of those who attend are our jewels, our OPALs! (Optimistic People with Active Lives).

Our OPALs meet the third Wednesday of each month at noon for fellowship and a hot meal. A group of volunteers look after providing the meal and there is a small charge for the meal. The meal is followed by a program and short devotional. Programs have included such things as information from police on safety, greeting card making, carol singing, Salvation Army disaster responsive services, Addiction Services, Toronto History, Monarch Butterflies and much more.

You are invited to join us. We would be happy to add more jewels to our collection at the Luncheon Club.

The cost of lunch is $10

Women’s Ministry

Yorkminster-Women

Our Worshiping Women’s (W2) group aims to engage, equip and activate women to fulfill their divine calling.  Our desire is to see women discover their uniqueness in Christ, experience the depths  of God’s love, and become followers of Jesus. Whether you are single, married, a stay at home mom, or a working professional, you are invited to connect with other spirit-minded women at any of our events!

Some of the highlights from last year are:
Line Dancing
Women’s Retreat
Quarterly Saturday Breakfast
And other times of fellowship

Women’s Sacred Circle

In Luke 11 the disciples asked Jesus, “Lord, teach us to pray…” Many of us struggle with ‘how’ to pray. Perhaps the concept seems elusive, or we feel awkward, or when we try we find our minds wander. Once a month (on a Monday evening, from September to June), as women, we gather together and experience different prayer practices that help us pray together. These practices include Lectio Divina (holy reading), Visio Divina (holy seeing), examen, meditation, imagining scripture and many more.

The schedule for 2024/2025 is as follows:

September 23
October 28
January 27
March 3
April 14
May 5

Grief and Sorrowing Support

Galatians 6:2 entreats us to “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” Sadly, sorrow and grief are a natural part of life. While we hope these experiences will pass, they are actually seasons we need to journey through. As we journey, a supportive community is very important. This year we will hold four season rituals to come alongside and support one another while we sorrow and grieve. These rituals will occur on Monday evenings as follows:

November 4
December 16
March 24
May 12

Please call the church office for more information.
